Who.

Born in Nottingham and fiercely proud of his Welsh roots, Cian is a writer/director with a love of rich worlds, vivid characters and the complexities of human connection, often treading the fine line between comedy and tragedy.
‍
Trained as an actor at RADA, he brings a particular interest in character and performance to his filmmaking.
‍
His short ‘Duck Press’, starring Matthew Marsh and Jordan Scowen, is a love letter to gastronomy, the bond between fathers and sons, and our appetite for life when we crave it most. The film had its world premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival in California before screening internationally, most recently at Hell’s Half Mile Film & Music Festival, where Matthew Marsh received the Jury Award for Best Lead Performance.
‍
His chess-infused romantic comedy ‘The Fool’s Mate’ premiered at the BAFTA-qualifying Bolton International Film Festival, won Best Short Film at Cambria Film Festival, California, and has attracted over 245,000 views online.
‍
He’s just shot, ‘The Vicar: A Holy Catastrophe’ -  a comedy of biblical proportions with a touch of the lusty.
‍
Cian conceived and directed ‘Music To Move You’, a narrative spec ad for Heart FM exploring how music can give us the courage to live outwardly what was once private. The film was shortlisted at the 1.4 Awards ’25 and selected for Berlin Commercial RAW ’24. He also directed the music video for ‘Greek Street Friday’, the title track of acclaimed jazz musician Ian Shaw’s latest album.
‍
When not on set, Cian can be found in the jazz clubs of Soho or serenading pub-goers and rugby fans alike with the London Welsh Male Voice Choir.

Training.

Cian’s work is heavily influenced by the principles and philosophies learnt whilst training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and National Youth Theatre. Since then he has performed at the Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall and the Edinburgh Fringe; all of which have helped shape his style and understanding of nuance in performance.

He co-created the theatre company, ‘Cian and Al’ staging witty, physical comedies such as John Mortimer’s ‘The Dock Brief’ and Michael Frayn’s ‘Matchbox Theatre’ to great acclaim. Find reviews of both productions below along with stills in the gallery.
